Excellence in British Education

Excellence in British Education at St. George's

At St. George’s we aim to stimulate a lifelong passion for learning, encouraging every child to fulfil their academic, personal and professional goals.

To do this, we follow the English National Curriculum, an internationally recognised and respected framework that opens the doors to prestigious universities throughout Spain, the UK, the USA, Europe and the rest of the world.

Learning skills to last a lifetime

The British curriculum is based up on the idea of developing transferable skills rather than simply memorising content for exams.

It provides a fun, practical, creative and interactive teaching and learning framework that focuses on encouraging students to become confident and independent thinkers. This way, they leave school with the capacity to successfully adapt to the demands of an ever-changing world.

The system prioritises decision-making and problem-solving skills, helping students to learn how to learn and teaching them to be intellectually agile and adaptable.

At present our students follow the English National Curriculum from Pre Nursery Class to Year 7 before switching over to the Spanish system. From September 2021 we will be progressively implementing the English National Curriculum until the entire school is following this curriculum.

Continuous assessment

The English National Curriculum also employs a system of continuous assessment, which provides a detailed and ongoing overview of each student’s progress and development, instead of requiring an intense period of testing and examination at the end of each year.

Class sizes are small, allowing our teachers to pay close attention to each individual student and to ensure their needs are appropriately met. We are able to devise clear learning pathways for each child and to plan the support and guidance they require to meet their academic and personal goals.

Beyond the classroom

At St. George’s we understand that learning does not only happen inside the classroom. We have a full programme of extracurricular activities, cultural excursions, exchange programmes, and active holidays designed to enrich the lives of our students, provide learning opportunities, and create lifelong memories.

Excellence does not only mean academic achievement.

The importance of resilience - St George's British International School

Learn and strengthen in the face of crises, a value we teach at St. George’s British International School.

Resilience is important in the educational process because it has been shown that, after family, school is a key environment, fundamental for students to acquire the necessary skills to get ahead thanks to their ability to overcome adversity.

Educating in an uncertain world - St George's British International School

This is how we prepare students at St. George’s to face the many challenges of the future.

"65 per cent of children who start primary school today will end up starting their working lives in completely new jobs that still do not exist."

So how do you prepare children to face the many challenges that technology poses? How do we encourage entrepreneurship and adaptability in them so that they know how to function in a labour market that is an enigma? How do we train critical citizens, capable of tackling problems like climate change and committed to equality?
