1st Baccalaureate students collaborate with the Bizkaia Food Bank.
Last Friday our dedicated 1st Baccalaureate students volunteered in collaboration with the Bizkaia Food Bank. In a show of commitment and solidarity, our children came together to support those who need it most in our community. Throughout the day, they collected food at various supermarkets in Bilbao, thus contributing to the efficient distribution of essential resources.
It was a valuable educational experience that not only benefited the recipients, but also left a lasting mark on our students, reminding them of the importance of empathy and service to others.
Meng Yan Zhan, Year 12. "It was a good experience as it is an opportunity that offers you to find personal satisfaction in helping people in need. Apart from that, it can provide opportunities to develop teamwork skills, organisation, empathy and communication with people of different ages. These kinds of initiatives are needed for a number of reasons, whether it is to support people who have difficulties in obtaining food, or to learn, both young and old, to take the initiative as part of society and try to solve other people's adversities and show solidarity.
We are incredibly proud of their dedication and thank each of them for their significant contribution. This act of solidarity is a testament to the core values we foster in our school community. We also thank the Bizkaia Food Bank for giving us the opportunity to participate in this noble cause. Let us continue to inspire each other to build a more compassionate and caring world.
Erika López, Year 12. "Our day at the Biscay Food Bank was a moving experience. The unity among the volunteers made our contribution very rewarding. By encouraging donations, we learned about community engagement and the vital role we play in addressing societal challenges."
