Great Success at the Charity Run and the First Edition of World Culture Day

  • Events

St. George's British International School celebrates another year of its charity run alongside a new event, World Culture Day.

Last Sunday, 12th October, we enthusiastically celebrated our much-loved annual Charity Run, a fundraising event that brings together our entire school community each year. Pupils, teachers, and families all take part with energy and commitment in this day dedicated to solidarity.

As in every edition, the aim is to raise funds to support a charity chosen by the students themselves. This year, we were thrilled to see a particularly high number of participants. Older students ran for an hour, while the younger ones completed a 15-minute run, all giving their very best. It was inspiring to see everyone doing their part for the cause, showing that the spirit of generosity and sportsmanship is stronger than ever in our school.

A New Addition: World Culture Day

For the first time, following the race, we held World Culture Day, an exciting new event organised by the PTA, designed to celebrate the cultural diversity that enriches our community.

With great enthusiasm, volunteer families set up stands representing different countries. Visitors were invited to sample traditional dishes, learn about cultural customs, and take part in a wide range of activities. Each attendee received a “passport” which was stamped at each stand, encouraging everyone to visit them all and fully immerse themselves in the experience.

Highlights included a spicy food challenge, children’s workshops, photo sessions in traditional dress, and even a fun football match between parents, children, and teachers. It was truly a day full of joy, learning, and community spirit.

Fundraising and Community

All funds raised during World Culture Day will go to the PTA and will help support upcoming events that promote school life and student wellbeing.

These types of initiatives not only encourage healthy lifestyles and the value of solidarity, but also help to strengthen the bonds between students, families, and staff, while promoting respect for and appreciation of different cultures.
